Abstract
The John family is a Quaker family of Uwchlan and Shamokin Valley in Pennsylvania. Some of the family later moved to Illinois but continued to be active in Friends organizations. This collection consists primarily of card photos of the John family, along with some prints and negatives of scenes.

Rebecca (Underwood) John and her husband, Perry John, were ministers in the Society of Friends, members of Roaring Creek Monthly Meeting, and worshipped in the Quaker meeting house at Bear Gap (Shamokin), Pennsylvania. The bulk of this collection is correspondence, primarily from the 1840s through the 1850s.
