Mariana Wright Chapman was a prominant New York Quaker suffragist. The collection includes correspondence received while she was active in suffrage activities in New York State, 1893-1900, family letters, particularly between Mariana and her husband, Noah, and the correspondence of the Wrights, the Chapmans, and of her son, A.Wright Chapman. Abstract
The Willets family were members of Westbury Monthly Meeting and lived at their farm, Homewood, from the mid 19th century until 1965. Eliza K. Willets, the last resident, was the daughter of Thomas Whitson Willets and Hannah Keese; known affectionately as Aunt Lila, she graduated from Swarthmore College in 1893. Her sister, Anna, married Edward Morgan Lapham of Chicago in 1908. In 1940, their daughter, Anne Willets Lapham, married E. Wayne Frazer, the son of John E. and Elizabeth Gamber...

Scope and Contents
Typescript in binder. Ann (Brown) Willets was the grandmother of the compiler, Charles R. Willits. She descended from a long line of Quakers as was her husband, Henry Willits of Maiden Creek, Berks County, Pa. Charles Willits also made a typescript of the Willets genealogy compiled by Thomas Montgomery Lightfoot. Both were copied, bound, and cataloged in 2000.
