Overview Eleanor Stabler Clarke (1896-1995), a birthright Quaker, was active in the American Friends Service Committee and other Quaker organizations, and served on the Swarthmore College Board of Managers from 1935-1971. Cornelia Schmidt (b. 1924) is the daughter of Eleanor Stabler and William A. Clarke. Eleanor Stabler's father was Charles Stabler (1853-1903) who married Ida Palmer (1875-1966).
