David Backon kept a journal during his time with the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois Confderacy) in 1974. Entries describe Bacon’s journey to the Haudenosaunee territory, and interactions between himself and the members of the Haudenosaunee, as well as discussions between representatives from the United States and Six Nations governments concerning the treaty that was to determine the land rights of the Haudenosaunee after the end of the Revolutionary War. William Savery's diaries. The majority of the first volume concerns the Treaty at Canandaigua, and the remaining volumes are accounts of religious visits Savery made throughout Europe. Entries generally describe details of travel between destinations, Quaker meetings attended, Quaker families visited, and descriptions of each location's culture, food, language, style of dress, and form of local government.
