Overview

Thomas Wistar's journal entries largely describe his work as an Indian Commissioner, including visits to Washington D.C., the Seneca Nation, the Wichita Indian Agency, and other Native American Reservations. This collection is comprised of the single volume letterbook of Thomas Wistar. The majority of the letters copied in this volume are personal correspondence between Thomas Wistar and various family members and friends. A few letters included are letters of sympathy from friends and family written upon the death of Thomas Wistar in January, 1876.
