Overview

Included are letters of Friends unsigned, unattributed, and/or undated. In addition, there is a memorial to Samuel Fothergill; a letter to Phin, possibly Phineas Garrett, and two poems, one to the memory of a Richard Jordan (written in the 19th century), the other to the memory of Tacy Bates (written in the 19th century).

Overview Memorials are brief biographical essays which testify to the spiritual values of a Quaker's life. Early meetings only wrote memorials for ministers, but today some meetings continue the practice to memorialize all deceased members. In the 19th century, in particular, some Yearly Meetings periodically published compilations of memorials.
