ALS. Discusses news of family and friends. "Almost every person here is in a fever about California; which if not prevented by the cholera, will carry off many from this section of the country." Also discusses his quest for a consulship: "I wrote a few days since to the President Elect, asking for a consolship [sic] at either Liverpool or at Havana. Cannot you help me . . . can you not get up a recommendation [?]"
