The letters in this file were addressed to Morris by the following merchants and mercantile firms in Hartford, Connecticut: Jared Scarborough (discussions of market prices in Philadelphia, confirming receipt of flour from Morris), Orrin Sage (sales of cheese and tow cloth, remittance of $1000), Benjamin Newbury Jr. (request to send money in bills of the York Bank), Caldwell & Scarborough (pine lumber and rum), William Deming (Virginia notes and drafts on Petersburg or Richmond), J. Savage & Co. (cheese), William Battell (arrest of Houston), and Caldwell & Colt (asking about the standing of Benjamin Fowler & Son).
