Contains letters from Saloma [Battey?] to family (including “brother Thomas”) about teaching school and advice of a spiritual nature, from Smith Battey to wife Ruth and son Thomas J. Battey (TJB) about a trip to Michigan to visit sister Phebe and husband Elijah Brownell, family news and advice, and from Thomas J. [Jesse] Battey (also an accompanying letter, of Elizabeth to her uncle TJB) to his parents about school. Also includes a certificate of admittance to Haverford College for Thomas J. Battey.
