Anthony Morris letters to Samuel B. Morris, 1817
Scope and Contents
All of the letters in this file were written by Anthony Morris to his nephew, Samuel B. Morris, from Bolton, England. Morris asked his nephew several times to call on John Vaughn regarding a demand from a creditor in Switzerland. In an October 16, 1817, letter, Morris expressed happiness that the grape vines he sent his nephew were flourishing and notes that they were presented to him by "an Amateur of the Vineyard of Leghorn." In an October 17, 1817, letter Morris wrote that "Since closing my letter last Evg. your Cousin Rebecca has presented the Community of Bolton with a daughter." He asked Samuel B. Morris to send the best porter, a Goshen cheese, eight gallons of the best Lisbon wine, one dozen bottles of best Madeira, six pounds of raisins, six loaves of sugar, and ten pounds of best souchong tea.
