Licensed Agencies for Relief in Asia (LARA) Correspondence, 1945-1946
Scope and Contents
Includes correspondence (and the occaisional newspaper clipping or memorandum) between various parties of the Licensed Agencies for Relief in Asia (LARA). Gilbert Bowles, members of the American Friends Service Committee's Committee on Japan (including Esther Rhoads), and other organizations involved with relief efforts in Asia (primarily Japan and Korea) are the main creators. A letter from David C. Walden, Finance Secretary of the AFSC, dated August 9, 1946, says there were 13 organizations (including AFSC) that were part of LARA.
