Biographical / Historical
Lydia H. Smedley (1858-1923) was the daughter of Thomas and Philena Smedley of Chester Monthly Meeting and the older sister of Walter Smedley. In 1881 Lydia married Edward L. South (1858-1905), son of Ephraim and Hannah South. Edward worked as a clerk, and the family lived on Front Street, Media. They had one child, Alfred (1883-1913).
