Includes: a letter from the Mayor of Philadelphia to Benjamin Shoemaker re: Shoemaker's appointment as attorney, 1751; numerous proposals and petitions to the Mayor of Philadelphia re: improvements to the City; responses and reports in response to petitions made about the City. Most petitions revolve around the wharfs, ferries, and water management, but there are at least a few petitions re: punishment or imprisonment.
