Ida Roberts album, ca. 1916-1920
Scope and Contents
Snapshots glued into an album, many labeled. Ida Wilkins Roberts (1896-1993) was the daughter of Allen H. Roberts and Ida Wilkins and a birthright member of Moorestown Monthly Meeting, New Jersey. In 1917, she spent a year at the State Normal School in Los Angeles. She taught there briefly and she met her future husband, Walter Smedley (1862-1939). The album begins with photographs of her home and family in New Jersey and follows her travels West visiting National Parks on her way to California. A few photographs at the end of the album are of her husband Walter and their children.
