Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, 1797
Scope and Contents
This volume of discplines (which is printed, not handwritten) includes the advice and disciplines of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting up until 1797. There is a table of contents in which each entry is laid out. The topics ranged from defamation to burials, to mourning, to schools and to wills. This particular copy of the disciplines is extensively annotated with sections crossed out, others noted as "retained", and others with commentary alongside them in the margins. According to a slip of paper at the beginning of the volume it was used by Jonathan Evans when he prepared a revision of the disciplines in 1834.
