The letters in this file were addressed to Morris by the following merchants and mercantile firms in New York, New York: Leavitt & Lea (exchange of a bill for a check on a New York bank or payment in Pennsylvania bank bills), Anson G. Phelps (linseed oil, pepper, tin plate, English iron, copper, and flaxseed), David L. Parmelee (pineapple cheese and calf skins), Anthony Morris (asking Morris to send trunks and a writing desk to New York), Balestier & Thomas, Abner Davis (barley), William Battell (drawing on Morris's account in favor of another firm), Beach & Parmelee (cheese, providing information on Anson G. Phelps), Orrin Sage (mill saws, cheese), John L. Buckley (information about an unnamed firm), Haydock & Jenkins (inquiry into "F&H" and Anson G. Phelps, quicksilver, whalebone, sperm oil), William W. Haydock, Trumbull Cary (exchange of bills for bills of the Bank of the United States), Libbeus Loomis (cargo going to Kentucky), and Mulford & Leffingwell (price of nutmegs and standing of a Philadelphia merchant).
