Haverford College announces that it will not hold securities in banks that make or keep loans to the government of South Africa due to apartheid (80-55). Haverford College reaches its campaign goal of $20 million ahead of schedule (80-72). HC receives grant of $250,000 from the National Science Foundation to upgrade computing and expand computer use (80-88A2). HC receives grant for women's athletics at the value of $20,000, as provided by the Ethel Sergeant Clark Smith Memorial Fund (80-89). HC granted $30,000 from the W. W. Smith Charitable Trust of Ardmore, to help the college maintain its financial aid policy in the face of inflation (80-90). Bernard Henderson promoted from associate director of development to director of development in foundations, corporations, and government relations (November 15, 1980). "Haverford Sampler" exhibit, with unusual manuscripts, books, original art, photos, and maps, to run until December 7, 1980 (November 19, 1980). Psychohistorian Lloyd deMause to speak on "The Iranian Crisis as an American Group Fantasy" at HC (November 25, 1980). John A. Cantrell named national chairman for 1980-1981 annual giving at Haverford College (November 26, 1980). Mary Louise Allen, Ardmore resident, named director of the Eighth Dimension at HC (December 23, 1980).
