Incoming mercantile correspondence from New York, New York, 1815-1816
Scope and Contents
The letters in this file were addressed to Morris by the following merchants and mercantile firms in New York, New York: Hervey Mulford & William C. Leffingwell (Morris sending flour and corn meal to them for sale, information on commodity prices in New York market), Samuel Marsh (asking for Morris's assistance in getting P.W. Grant a mercantile situation in Philadelphia), Vincent DuComb Jr. (salt), Jared Scarborough (information on the character of "Mr. W," iron), Caldwell & Scarborough (iron, sugar, textiles), Orrin Sage (brandy and mill saws), George Trimble (spars), William Jenkins (commodity prices in Philadelphia), William Deming (corn), Ebenezer Crocker (market for fish in Philadelphia), Nathaniel Hurlbut (counterfeit bill), and Jenkins & Man (linseed oil).
There is also a letter from Samuel's father, Luke W. Morris, noting that the family arrived safely in New York and would visit Flushing.
