Licensed Agencies for Relief in Asia (LARA) Correspondence, 1948
Scope and Contents
Includes correspondence, memorandum and financial documents between various parties of the Licensed Agencies for Relief in Asia (LARA). Gilbert Bowles (as a member of the Hawaii Branch of the AFSC), members of the American Friends Service Committee's Committee on Japan (Edward Peacock is most prominent), and other organizations involved with relief efforts in Japan are the main creators. Most of the correspondence deals with the logistics of bringing clothing and food relief overseas and the financial details of shipping and freight. Also includes an application to the Appeals Review Board of the Chamber of Commerce of Honolulu on the part of the Hawaii Committe on Relief for Japan and Korea.
