Scope and Contents note
Summary of Collection: 37 manuscript Allinson family letters, 1 poem, 1 diary, 1 epistle; 2 photostatic copies of: “Notes of a Tour made by John Brown,...William Allinson”, 1809 and “Account of Conversation with Papunung”; 3 photographs: Locust Hill (2) and inscribed carte-de-visite of John Greenleaf Whittier; 11 books or pamphlets, including letter by J.G. Whittier to William [Allinson], 1871; and letter by J. J. Gurney to?, 1841. These latter two items were removed from the books and interfiled with the Allinson Family letters.

Biographical/genealogical Information
Samuel Allinson (1739-1791) was a friend of Anthony Benezet and grandfather of (Margaret Carroll Allinson?). William J. Allinson ((1810-1874) and Samuel Allinson Jr. (1808-1883) were nephews of William Allinson (1766-1841). Edward F. Allinson was grandfather of (Margaret Carroll Allinson?) and friend of John G. Whittier. Caroline Allinson was cousin of (Margaret Carroll Allinson?). Anna G. Roberts m. ca. 1885 Edward Allinson.
