Biographical / Historical
Minority protest began with demands from the Black Students’ League and Puerto Rican Students at Haverford in 1972 and culminated in a “strike” against participation in a boycott of non-academic activities. In 1976 the Asian Studies Group and the Students’ Council joined with BSL and PRSH in the Minority Coalition again raised concerns and staged a hunger strike and sit-in. Students for Democratic Education formed in 1979 and continued the student action.
