Much of the correspondence in this year is from abroad. Alfred Swan, Louise Erickson, Peter Westergaard, and Noel Waterman all write about their travels in Europe. Larry A. Gushee and Ernest Hankamer write from where they are stationed in France and Germany, respectively. Jacky Duvalé writes in French about plans for visiting the United States. Giorgio Gaggia, whom John Davison met in Italy, begins to write. Closer to home, John Davison's brother Roderic Davison writes to announce the birth of his son, Richard Hollet Davison, on August 29, 1953. Theodore 'Ted' Kopf, Jean Lunn, and Margaret Massey-Stewart continue to be prolific correspondents as well.
