Having received his PhD in music composition from the Eastman School of Music, John Davison considered teaching positions at the University of California, Wilmington College, Cornell University, and Haverford College. Responses from these are included in this file. JD took the position at Haverford College and received letters from William Cadbury, Jr. and Hugh Borton regarding his appointment. John Davison also received a response from Gerald Morgan, Deputy Assistant to the President, thanking him for a letter to the President regarding relations between the United States and Soviets. Others, including Howard Hanson and David Fetter, write about conducting or performing JD's music. The majority of the remainder of the letters is casual correspondence from friends and family. Eloise Hollet Davison, Joseph Dibble, Giorgio Gaggia, John Greppin, Jean Lunn, Margaret Massey-Stewart, and Noel Waterman write most extensively.
