Biographical / Historical
First proposal, 1973, comes in part out of concern that the existing policy is discriminatory against women because they constituted a large portion of the part-time and temporary faculty. Parts of the eventual proposal had difficulty getting Board approval because of the financial implications and a provision to qualify part-time faculty for tenure. The Board approved fringe benefits for regular part-time and temporary full-time faculty, without the ability to qualify for tenure, in 1975.
