Scope and Contents

Recipients include 'daughter,' 'wife' (Margaret). One of the letters to his wife (though at the time they were not married or engaged) includes a short lock of blonde hair. This letter writes of unspecified difficulties with their meeting or Quaker process which prevented their marriage. This letter is dated 1848; the letter addressed to "wife" is undated.
