Scope and Contents
This collection contains the handwritten and typed versions of Edward D. Snyder's short stories. The majority of the stories are focused around Snyder's exploits and adventures at sea, beginning during his time at Yale University. The second folder contains correspondence with family members and friends regarding their thoughts on his stories and five photographs of various scenes on the campus of Haverford College along with a field and a sailboat.

Biographical Note
Edward Douglas Snyder (1889-1973) was born in Middlesex, Connecticut, to Peter Miles Snyder and Grace Evelyn Bliss. Snyder attended Rockford High School in Rockford, Illinois before enrolling at Yale University, where he earned his B.A. He studied at Harvard University and was awarded a Ph.D before teaching at Haverford College from 1915 to 1955. In 1916, Snyder married Edith Edmund Royce and the couple had two children. He died on April 6, 1973 in Los Angeles, California.
