Biographical Note

Thomas Scantlebury (1747-1821) was born in East Cornwall, England, circa 1747, the son of John and Joanna Scantlebury. Scantlebury was a looking-glass manufacturer and cabinet maker. Scantlebury was married to Sarah Barlow, and the couple had five children: John Barlow Scantlebury (b. 1788), Joseph Scantlebury (b. 1791), Joanna Scantlebury (b. 1793), Elizabeth Scantlebury (b. 1796), and Samuel Scantlebury (b. 1800). Scantlebury died in Scheffield, England, on August 14, 1821.
