This collection contains minutes of the American Young Friends Committee from 1947-1950. It is missing minutes 1-15. It also contains two types of pamphlets with information about the committee, one with mission information and how to become involved, and the other are a history of the organization.

Historical note

The American Young Friends Committee was founded in 1934 during the All Young Friends Conference at Lake Forest, Illinois, by representatives from the Five Years Meeting (now Friends United Meeting). The a pamphlet from the collection from 1948 describes the mission of the commite as "to draw together the family of young Friends across America in the knowledge and love of God and Jesus Christ whom He sent. It encourages us as young Friend to commit our lives to God and to witness to the Truth: in our local meetings, in our vocations, by travel, in ministry and in daily relationships with our fellow men." The committee changed its name from American Young Friends Fellowship in 1950 (February 19, 1950 minute 239).
