Biographical Note
Samuel Bunting Haines was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on November 19th, 1840. Haines entered Haveford College in 1858 and left in 1859 to enter the military. Haines was a lieutenant for the 121st Regiment in the Pennsylvania Volunteers from 1862 to 1863. Haines died in a military camp near Belle Plain, Virginia, on February 23rd, 1863.

Abstract
