Scope and Contents
This collection contains four handwritten letters written in 1863 between Caroline Cope Hartshorne and Anna Hartshorne, her mother-in-law. The letters discuss Caroline's choice to convert from Quakerism to Episcopalianism, under the influence of Phillip Brooks.

Biographical Note
Caroline Cope Yarnall Hartshorne (1835-1886) was born in 1835. She married Charles Hartshorne on June 8, 1859, and the couple had three children: Mary Weston (b. 1860), Edward Yarnall (b. 1861), and Francis Cope (b. 1868). She died May 28, 1886.
