Most of the letters discuss the work of the Toyko Friend's Girl School and other Quaker mission work undertaken by the Bowles in addition to discussion of family news. Notably, the first letter from Minnie describes the death of her daughter Helen Joy in 1912.

Most of the letters discuss the work of the Toyko Friend's Girl School and other Quaker mission work undertaken by the Bowles in addition to discussion of family news. Notably the letters discuss the Bowles's transition out of mission work in Japan and their move to Hawaii.
