Frederick L. Smith was a teacher and assistant headmaster between 1892 and 1917. He became acting headmaster at the death of Richard M. Jones in 1917 and served for one year, until the appointment of Richard M. Gummere. He remained on the faculty unitl 1925, when he was asked to resign.
