Scope and Contents
Manuscript original translation of Homer's Hymn to Aphrodite. Contains a preface and glossary of ancient Greek mythological figures and places that appear in the Hymn. Incipit initial letter beginning each page hand painted and embellished with watercolor floral ornamentation. Parchment edge gilded.

Hymn to Aphrodite Translated into English Verse from the Greek of Homer. Hand bound. Blank book. Hardcover leather binding. Front and back covers decorated with gilt tooled embellishments on color leather overlays. Ornate metal clasp closure. Front cover title embossed in gold lettering. Inner covers contain ornate gilt borders and covered in green satin. Pages contain gilt edges. Encased in slipcase labeled "HYMN TO APHRODITE" in gold lettering on spine.
