Obituaries include one in Christian Inquirer,published by the Unitarian Association of New York State, which contains the statement, “It was said that after Mr. Lincoln he (Ichabod Codding)was the only man in Illinois who was a match for Senator Douglas.” The material also includes a memorial by Senator Francis Gillette, in the National Anti-Slavery Standard, N.Y., 7-28-1866, a photograph of Mr. Codding, and a lock of his hair
