Series 11: David Cope and Marian Dunham Elkinton
Scope and Contents
David Cope Elkinton (1915-2002) was the youngest child of Joseph Passmore Elkinton and Mary Bucknell Elkinton, born January 25, 1915. He graduated from Westtown School and Haverford College. He was a accountant and cost analyst with the family firm, Philadelphia Quartz Company, and a Quaker activist. In 1940 he married Marian Dunham (1913-2010), and they had three sons: Thomas Dunham, David Passmore, and Steven. He was a lifelong member of Media Monthly Meeting and participated in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, Friends General Conference, and Friends World Committee. In later life, particular interests were genealogy, travel, American Youth Hostel, Inc., and the Media-Providence Friends School. In 1989, the Elkintons moved to White Horse Village, a retirement community in Gradyville. David C. Elkinton died July 2, 2003.
