ALS to "Dear Cousin" concerning a plot of land. Also, draft of Ferris's letter to his cousin Thomas S. Newlin concerning same plot; Ferris was the Arbitrator of the Will of Thomas Shipley. Joseph Shipley (1795-167) was a banker who made his fortune in London. He returned to Delaware in retirement and built Rockwood, a mansion in Newark.
