2 pages. Lucretia Mott is in Brooklyn visiting her daughter Martha "Pattie" Mott Lord, who has just given birth to a daughter named Anna. She mentions a visit to John Merritt's and Robert Collyer and discusses Quaker ideas about music, dancing, and weddings.

"The solemnity of a marriage forbade its being made a festive occasion. . . . I thought 'the practice of music and the feelings of Friends had undergone such change, as to regard it less objectionable in this day--when dancing was little more than walking, and preferable to the kind of plays at weddings when some of us were young.'"
