4 pages. Lucretia Mott letter Martha Mott Lord; S. W. Hallowell letter to Lucretia Mott. Written from Roadside. Recipient inferred. Possibly a fragment. Lucretia Mott writes about preparing for Christmas and provides updates about several family members and friends. Isaac (possibly Hopper) and his friends performed a play to benefit the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Lucretia talks about giving gifts to those in need and says it is "not alms, but justice to the wronged." Partially written over an undated letter from S. W. Hallowell to "aunt Lucretia," informing her of the death of Sam, likely Samuel Haydock (1844-1870), whose passing Lucretia references in her letter.
