Lucretia Mott talks about spending Christmas at the home of Martha and George Lord, including discussing Christmas dinner in detail. She complains about Edwin Godkin and The Nation but says she can't withdraw her subscription because Maria likes to read the literary reviews. She also mentions that "fine women in England are laboring against the Contagious Diseases Act." She discusses attending a Peace Conference in New York where she felt the speeches were too sentimental.
