Mott, Lucretia to Sister, Roadside, 1872 4mo 23
Scope and Contents
4 pages. Written from Roadside. Lucretia Mott shares news and describes recent events involving family and friends. She says Anna Hopper keeps very busy with her work at Swarthmore. Mott recently saw Laura De Force Gordon speak and describes her as not having "the magnetic power" of some other speakers. She also describes dreading having to meet Gordon as she does every new acquaintance, but she rejoices that "this new generation of advocates have the field." Partially written over a letter from Martha Mellor to "Maria" (possibly Martha Mellor Davis to Maria Mott Davis) asking to borrow her mortar and pestle.
