Mott, Lucretia to Lord, Martha, M., 1875? 3mo 27
Scope and Contents
3 pages. Fragment. Likely written to Martha Mott Lord. Lucretia Mott discusses a Quaker named Martha Travilla from West Chester, Pennsylvania, who had "a 'concern' to visit families." Initially Lucretia declined to see her but then felt guilty and had Travilla and her companion (a woman from Darby) over for a meal and then sent her to several other local families. She also mourns the recent deaths of several friends and the young child of a friend. Partially written over a printed announcement of a course of lectures to be presented by the Woman's Association at the Woman's Hospital beginning on March 27, 1875.
