Talks about her past, present, and future living arrangements, as well as the living arrangements of Maria Mott Davis and Mrs. Jones. Recounts living through the antislavery movement and discusses the progress of the women's rights movement. Says, "The wonderful progress in the emancipation of women from old time fetters, I sometimes think we only half realize. Certainly younger women who cannot look back to the experience of their sisters in the early decades of this century, do not realize it... You and I cannot expect to see with mortal eyes, woman's full enfranchisement; but your grandchildren, doubtless, will." Also mentions interacting with Richard Price Hallowell, the ninetieth birthday of William Henry Furness, and a poem addressed to Furness by Mr. Chadwick.
