Maria Mott Davis discusses the biography of Lucretia Mott that Hallowell is working on and tells her to focus on writing the book and to hire someone to complete her sewing. She invites her to come work on it at Roadside. The next part of the letter is dictated by Edward Morris Davis. He advises his daughter not to feel pressured to complete the book too quickly but rather to take the time she needs to complete the book properly. Maria Davis also briefly discusses a painting of Lucretia Mott commissioned by James Miller McKim.
