William P. Camp Papers

Overview William P. Camp (1917-1999) was a Pennsylvania psychiatrist, concerned with ethics in the mental health field and very active in his profession and in Quaker organizations. His wife, Kay Camp, was a teacher and peace activist who served as the president of Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom. Both of the Camps were active in Quaker concerns and members of Norristown Monthly Meeting. The papers chronicle Dr. Camp’s life, particularly his professional and volunteer activities....

Overview The collection contains the correspondence of Robert Bryan Michener and Edith Riner Michener written while serving as Quaker missionaries in Kenya, East Africa, in the 1930s. Working under the auspices of the American Friends African Mission, a program of the Five Years Meeting, R. Bryan Michener served as a physician at the hospital in Kaimosi and then principal of the Boys’ School. Edith Michener first taught English at the Boys’ School and then organized the Girls’ Boarding School. ...

Richardson-Yarnall family papers

Overview The collection contains personal papers, primarily correspondence, of members of the Richardson and Yarnall families, Pennsylvania Quakers who emigrated to America in the 1680s. The families were united by the marriage in 1816 of Nathaniel Richardson and Hannah Yarnall of Byberry. Of special significance are the diaries of Quaker ministers Peter Yarnall (1754-1798) and his second wife, Hannah Haines Thornton Yarnall (1765-1822) and their correspondence with family and fellow ministers. ...

Overview The collection is composed largely of correspondence and related papers of Anna Travilla Speakman and her husband William Williams Speakman, Quakers of Swarthmore and Buck Hill Falls, Pennsylvania. Also represented is Anna's mother, Martha Newport Travilla, a Quaker minister who corresponded regularly with Samuel Willets.
