Abstract George A. Walton (1883-1969) was the long-time headmaster of the George School, a Quaker boarding school in Newtown, Pennsylvania. He succeeded his father as headmaster in 1912 and served until 1948. William Orick (1888-1990), who came to this country as a German refugee, was a Quaker and member of Schenectady Monthly Meeting in New York. He conducted extensive research on how women were regarded in history.
