Abstract

Elizabeth Newlin Baker was a Pennsylvania Quaker peace activist and graduate of Swarthmore College, Class of 1902. This small collection contains drafts of letters she wrote, miscellaneous correspondence received, and papers concerning the Pennsylvania Job Mobilization Program of the late 1930s.

T. Noel (Thomas Noel) Stern Writings

Abstract

The collection contains the writings of T. Noel Stern and his wife, Katherine. The writings document his professional and volunteer activities, from his work with the U.S. Forestry Service (1941) to his involvement with Dartmouth town government (1990s). Also reviews of his autobiographical novel, Secret Family (published privately in 1988). The autobiography concerns his life as the child of parents born out of wedlock in early 1910's America.

Abstract This collection contains papers of the Bailey and Wood families, including diaries and school lesson books of Edith M. B. Wood and an account book kept by her husband, Herbert W. Wood, a Quaker pastor. Also family correspondence, 1847-1859, primarily to Edith's mother, and a small number of miscellaneous Quaker-related items. Bassett-Little Family Papers

Abstract The collection contain papers of the Bassett and Little families who resided in Swarthmore, Pa., in the first half of the twentieth century. In the 1980s, May Virginia Bassett Little (1913-1994) created a series of family scrapbooks accompanied by short memoirs and excerpts from her diaries.
