Collections of still photographic types, including paper prints, cased photographs, glass plates, and slides. Historically, when processing a collection, FHL staff have often removed the photographs from the manuscript portion (e.g. RG4 organizational records or RG5 family or personal papers) and stored them as an associated PA photographs collection. FHL staff have also assembled alphabetical files by topic, such as the Meetinghouse Picture File.

J. Passmore Elkinton lantern slides

Overview

J. (Joseph) Passmore Elkinton was active in the Society of Friends in the Midwest and traveled to Japan and China on religious visits. His sister, Mary Passmore Elkinton, married the Japanese diplomat, Dr. Inazo Nitobe, in 1891. This collection contains lantern slides from J. Passmore's time in Japan.

Second General Conference of the Evangelical Friends Alliance photographs

Overview

The Evangelical Friends Alliance was formed in 1965 as an association of four evangelical Quaker groups. This collection consists of about a dozen black and white photographs from the Second General Conference of the Evangelical Friends Alliance, held July 23-27 1975, at George Fox College in Newberg, Oregon. The theme was “Game Plan for the Fourth Quarter… A World-Wide Strategy for Friends in the Final 25 Years of the Twentieth Century”

Fell Family photographs

Overview Joseph Fell (1804-1887), the son of Dr. David and Phebe Schofield Fell, was a Pennsylvania Quaker teacher and farmer. In 1835 he married Harriet William, the daughter of Samuel and Sarah Watson Williams of Buckingham, Pa. He served in the State legislature in 1837-38 and as superintendent of the county schools. Photographs for Fourth Friends World Conference "Quaker Story" exhibit

Overview The Friends World Committee for Consultation was created by the 2nd World Conference of Friends in 1937 to promote Quaker unity and fellowship. Friends from 75 nations participate today.
