Collections of still photographic types, including paper prints, cased photographs, glass plates, and slides. Historically, when processing a collection, FHL staff have often removed the photographs from the manuscript portion (e.g. RG4 organizational records or RG5 family or personal papers) and stored them as an associated PA photographs collection. FHL staff have also assembled alphabetical files by topic, such as the Meetinghouse Picture File.

Darlington Family photographs

Friends General Conference Photos

Abstract

Founded in 1900, when Hicksite yearly meetings joined together, the FGC is dedicated to holding annual meetings intended to nurture Quaker faith, practice, and inclusivity. In this collection, dated from 1894 to 1997, the yearly FGC meetings are photographed and presented in loose black and white and color photographs that show conference attendees and locations.

Photographs for Fourth Friends World Conference "Quaker Story" exhibit

Abstract The Friends World Committee for Consultation was created by the 2nd World Conference of Friends in 1937 to promote Quaker unity and fellowship. Friends from 75 nations participate today. Nelson Fuson photographs of Civilian Public Service (CPS)

Abstract

Nelson Fuson was a physicist and educator, active in Quaker concerns. In 1941 Fuson was drafted as conscientious objector, and was assigned to several Civilian Public Service (CPS) camps during World War II. This collection includes loose black and white photos and black and white scrapbook pages, along with a handdrawn map, documenting Fuson's time in CPS.

May Virginia Bassett Little photograph albums

Abstract In the 1980s, May Virginia Bassett Little (1913-1994) created a series of family scrapbooks accompanied by short memoirs and excerpts from her diaries. Her father was a birthright Quaker, and the family had deep roots in Swarthmore College and the Borough of Swarthmore. Her husband, Ralph V. Little, Jr., (1909-2001), also was raised in Swarthmore.
