This small collection contains drawings by Lucy Sikes, a Brooklyn, New York, Quaker artist, and her email correspondence with Friends Historial Library with printed attachments. Her drawings, often drawn during meeting sessions, appeared in Spark, the newsletter of New York Yearly Meeting, and other Quaker publications. Includes the original drawings for the New York Yearly Meeting Tercentenary Directory, circa 1992.

Biographical / Historical
Lucy Durand Sikes was a New York Quaker artist, active in historic preservation and environmentalism. She came to Brooklyn in the 1950s to study at the Pratt Institute and became an important activist in saving brownstones which were threatened by urban renewal. In 1988, she joined Brooklyn Monthly Meeting where she served in many capacities. For decades she supplied Spark, the newsletter of New York Yearly Meeting, and other Quaker publications with her observational drawings of Friends, often drawn during meeting sessions. Her work also was exhibited in a number of one-woman shows.
