Biographical / Historical

Born in Philadelphia, Elliott Richardson (1881-1964) was the son of Dr. Elliott Richardson and Achsah Nevins Richardson. Both parents died when he was young, and he and his siblings were raised by their aunts. He graduated from the George School and then earned a B.S. from Swarthmore College in 1902, followed by a degree in civil engineering. In 1915, he married Dorothy Strode. A member of Swarthmore Monthly Meeting, he served as Borough Manager for 26 years, retiring in 1961.
